Timely Morale-Booster for Singapore Duo

Singapore: Former amateur standouts Koh Sock Hwee and Amanda Tan have secured more playing opportunities for their 2025 season after finishing tied-15th and 17th respectively at the Taiwan LPGA (TLPGA) Tour Qualifying Tournament.

With the top 20 finishers at the Qualifying tournament earning their cards for the new season, Singaporeans Koh and Tan are assured of their playing status in Chinese Taipei next year.

For Koh, regaining her playing rights in Chinese Taipei was a timely morale-booster after a lacklustre season during which she missed multiple cuts.

“Prior to Covid, I was competing on the Taiwan Tour with full status. However, they did not retain our status during Covid and I lost my card. To be able to make it through qualifying again and get full status means a lot as I look to compete more in Asia again,” said Koh.

She added: “2024 has been a bit of a trying year. However, things are just starting to look better with the support we are getting from the recent partnership of the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) and Radar Tyres.

“In 2025, I am looking to compete again in Asia, mainly China and Taiwan and a little bit in Australia. I’m excited for what’s ahead.”

Tan, who also endured a difficult season, was also relived to gain playing rights in Chinese Taipei.

“It (earning her TLPGA card) means a lot to me. That was one of my goals for the year and I am very glad I got it done. Being able to see the work of me, my coach and parents coming through is very fulfilling and makes it even more special,” said Tan, whose best result in 2024 came in September’s Chongqing Women’s Open on the China LPGA Tour, where she finished tied-24th.

She added: “This year hasn’t exactly been the easiest. The first six months felt like a huge test for my golf. I managed to finally see my coach in August and made some changes in my game. It’s nice to see some results from it.”

During their amateur days, both Koh and Tan represented Singapore in the Queen Sirikit Cup.
