WAGR Rise for Master of the Amateurs Winners

Singapore: Harrison Crowe has risen into the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) top-115 for the first time after hanging tough to win the Australian Master of the Amateurs.

The New South Wales player, who closed out last year by winning the Victorian Amateur, was a wire-to-wire winner at Victoria Golf Club.

But the winner of the individual title at the 2019 Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation Junior Championship Mitsubishi Cup in Japan had to overcome near costly mistakes at the 15th and 16th holes in the final round.

He double-bogeyed the 15th, before adding a bogey at the next. A par at the 17th steadied his nerves before finishing with a birdie to record a six-under-par 282 (68, 70, 72 and 72) for a one-shot victory.

Crowe jumped 115 positions in the standings to 113th.

Crowe’s compatriot Corey Lamb posted the biggest ranking improvement of the week, soaring 1,530 positions to 1,301st after his fourth place finish in the Australian Master of the Amateurs.

Among the women, Malaysian Jeneath Wong has attained her highest status on the WAGR following an impressive victory in the Women's Australian Master of The Amateurs.

Wong, who has committed to play college golf for Pepperdine University, won five out of eight tournaments in her adopted home of Australia last year. Her latest victory came with a seven-shot margin after rounds of 70, 70, 74 and 70 at Victoria Golf Club for a four-under 284 aggregate.

She jumps 48 places to 65th to strengthen her position as Malaysian number three behind world number 39 Natasha Andrea Oon and 49th ranked Ashley Lau Jen Wen.

Keeley Marx of Australia was the week’s most improved player with a jump of 918 spots to 1,099th after finishing third in the Women’s Australian Master of The Amateurs.

Meanwhile, Ratchanon ‘TK’ Chantananuwat continued his remarkable run of form on the Asian Tour.

The 14-year-old amateur followed up top-30 finishes in two Phuket Series events in late 2021 with a third-place finish in The Singapore International at Tanah Merah Country Club in Singapore.

Thanks to that effort, the Bangkok-based schoolboy enjoyed a 51-place rise to 56th in the WAGR – a position he’ll be looking to further improve upon in this week’s SMBC Singapore Open at Sentosa Golf Club.
