Danang, Vietnam: The R&A and Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) have announced that the seventh edition of the Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) championship will be played at Hoiana Shores from March 6-9, 2025.

It will be the first time Vietnam has hosted the championship which helped to launch the careers of three Major champions - Yuka Saso, Patty Tavatanakit and Ayaka Furue - and former world number one Atthaya ‘Jeeno’ Thitikul.

The golf course is set against a spectacular coastline and breathtaking unspoiled natural terrain, offering majestic views of the Eastern Sea and Cham Islands and is  renowned for its testing back nine sea breeze and bunkers.

Martin Slumbers, CEO of The R&A, said: “The Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific championship provides leading women’s amateur golfers with a world-class platform to compete at some of the most renowned golf courses in the region.

“Golf in Vietnam has grown significantly in recent years and we are looking forward to taking the championship there for the first time. Hoiana Shores Golf Club promises to be a fantastic venue and an excellent test of golf for the players.

“I am looking forward to seeing who emerges from the field to win the championship and earn the three Major championship exemptions on offer.”

The championship is young but has a grand reputation for producing Major champions.”

The WAAP aims to inspire future generations of women golfers and provides the champion with life-changing opportunities through exemptions into three women’s Major championships and other elite amateur championships. 

The winner at Hoiana Shores will be invited to compete in the AIG Women’s Open, Amundi Evian Championship and the Chevron Championship. In addition, she will receive invitations to the Hana Financial Group Championship, ISPS Handa Australian Open, The 122nd Women's Amateur Championship and, by tradition, the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
