Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates: Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) officials have hailed the deepening bonds with the European Golf Association (EGA).

The two ruling regional bodies are responsible for overseeing the amateur game in a total of more than 90 countries.

Speaking during the closing ceremony at the 2025 Bonallack and Patsy Hankins Trophies, Taimur Hassan Amin and General Abdullah Al Hashmi both referenced the burgeoning relationship between the two organisations.

Amin, the APGC Chairman, said: “This week has given us the chance to spend quality time together with our friends from the European Golf Association, whom we partner with for the Bonallack and Patsy Hankins Trophies.

“We’ve had various fruitful discussions and look forward to deepening the collaboration between our two organisations.”

Amin’s sentiments were echoed by General Abdullah, an APGC Board member who also acts as Vice Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF).

He said: “I’m excited about the potential growth of the partnership between the APGC and the EGA. Not just unified together for this championship, but as true partners, working together to help players from both regions reach the next level.

“I assure you that the UAE stands fully committed to supporting this shared vision.”

In his closing remarks, Amin also acknowledged Al Hamra Golf Club, the host venue, and its General Manager Paul Booth, as well as Ian Pattinson, Captain of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, and event sponsors.

He said: “To Al Hamra Golf Club, thank you for providing such a world-class venue for this prestigious event. Your hospitality and commitment to excellence have ensured that every participant and guest felt welcomed and cared for.

“We were honoured to have with us Ian Pattinson and his wife. It’s the first time the Captain of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews has attended the Bonallack and Patsy Hankins Trophies and his presence certainly elevated the event.

“To our esteemed sponsors – Montrachet Bank, The R&A, Rolex, Nippon Kabaya Ohayo Holdings, Titleist – and all others who made this event possible, your commitment to promoting amateur golf is invaluable, and your contributions ensure that this tournament continues to thrive and inspire.”

Al Hamra General Manager Booth said: “We witnessed some exceptional golf and we will be watching how the 48 players from Asia and Europe develop and climb the golfing ladder around the world over the next few months and years. We wish them all the best.

“I’m sure there will be professional tournament winners, maybe Major winners and perhaps a world number one or two among them.

“We will treasure these memories and the photos taken this week. We thank the Emirates Golf Federation and the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation for having the confidence to invite us to host these prestigious tournaments. Well done to all.”

Although he was unable to be present at Al Hamra, Carl Hankins, eldest son of the late Patsy Hankins after whom the women’s tournament is named, kept close tabs on proceedings.

He said: “The Hankins family would have loved to have been represented at this edition of the tournament in spectacular Dubai. We have been following the results from afar and see the same high standard of play, sportsmanship and camaraderie has continued in this edition of the meeting.

“Congratulations to team Asia-Pacific for lifting the Patsy Hankins Trophy. Well done young ladies. Congratulations also to the men for lifting the Bonallack Trophy.

“A big thank you to the APGC, EGA, the Emirates Golf Federation and Al Hamra Golf Club for hosting this wonderful tournament.”
