Seattle, Washington, United States: Nadene Gole is through to the quarter-finals at the 62nd US Senior Women’s Amateur following two comfortable victories on a gruelling second day of match play.

Australian Gole overcame American Wendy Ohlmeyer 4&3 in the morning Round of 32 at Seattle’s Broadmoor Golf Club.

She followed up in the afternoon with a 3&2 success against Belgium’s Annick Riff, the reigning European Senior Ladies champion, in the Round of 16.

Competing in her second US Senior Women’s Amateur, 55-year-old Gole will now square off with American Dawn Woodard in Wednesday’s quarter-finals. Woodard has already accounted for one Australian, having defeated Louise Millard 4&3 in the Round of 64.

A member of the Australian team that won the inaugural Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation Women’s Senior Amateur team title in Malaysia in 2022, Gole is currently 120th in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, the highest rated player in the field.

She’s also enjoying a memorable year having already won the R&A Women’s Senior Amateur Championship, the New Zealand Senior Championship and four domestic titles in Australia – Victorian Senior Amateur, South Australia Senior Amateur Championship, Cobram Barooga Senior Amateur and Tasmanian Senior Amateur.

Gole is one of two non-Americans to have won through to the last eight along with medallist, top seed and 2022 champion Shelly Stouffer of Canada.

On Tuesday morning, Stouffer took down 2004 US Women’s Mid-Am champion Corey Weworski, 5&4. In the afternoon, she experienced a minor glitch when losing the 13th and 15th holes to Stephanie Kiefer of Germany after having gone four-up through 12. A par at the 334-yard 16th was enough to win the hole and the match 3&2.

“I really like the golf course, and I really like how my game is going. I’m hitting the ball pretty well,” said Stouffer.
