Augusta, Georgia, United States: Patsy Hankins Trophy team-mates Mirabel Ting and Mamika Shinchi will reunite for the opening round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA).

Malaysian Ting and Japan’s Shinchi were linchpins of the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) team that defeated their European Golf Association counterparts in the Solheim Cup-style match play event in the United Arab Emirates in January.

This week, however, the focus is very much on individual glory in one of the most prestigious events in the women’s game, which culminates with the final round at Augusta National on Saturday.

In total, there are eight members of the APGC’s triumphant Patsy Hankins line-up in the ANWA starting field along with Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP) champion Jeneath Wong and seven other players from the region.

The ANWA’s international field of 72 players will compete across 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to 30 players and ties taking place after 36 holes.

The first two rounds will take place on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club (April 2-3). The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round on April 4. The final round, featuring competitors who made the cut, will take place on April 5 at Augusta National.

For the opening round, Ting, third in the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR), and Shinchi will play alongside American Amanda Sambach.

Two other Patsy Hankins team-mates who will play together in round one are Korean Jung Min-seo and Thai Suvichaya Vinijchaitham.

Rianne Malixi of the Philippines, fourth in the WAGR and the reigning US Women’s Amateur and US Junior Girls Amateur champion, joins Megha Ganne of the US and Spaniard Cayetana Fernandez Garica-Poggio.

Just three weeks after her stunning victory at Hoiana Shores Golf Club in Vietnam, Malaysian Wong has been drawn with American duo Nikki Oh and Elise Lee.

In another mouth-watering grouping, 2023 WAAP champion Eila Galitsky of Thailand will be with Korean Oh Soo-min, this year’s WAAP runner-up, and American Bailey Shoemaker.

The 2025 ANWA features 49 of the top-50 players in the WAGR and three past champions - Japan’s Tsubasa Kajitani (2021), American Anna Davis (2022) and England’s Lottie Woad (2024). There will be 33 players making their debut and 39 returning competitors.
