Singapore: Chinese teenager Zeng Liqi’s outstanding run of form has seen her break into the top-50 in the women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) for the first time.

On the back of a succession of accomplished performances on the China LPGA Tour, the 15-year-old has risen to a career-high of 47th.

Joining her among the elite top-50 are two other Asians – Japan’s Hinano Hoshikawa (49th) and Malaysian Natasha Andrea Oon (50th).

Zeng, who has indicated she’ll relinquish her amateur status late next year, has recorded six top-10 finishes against pro fields this year, including two runner-up finishes.

The only two Chinese players now ahead of Zeng in the WAGR are Yin Xiaowen (eighth) and Ye Lei, who edged up one place this week to 20th.

Meanwhile, Chinese-Taipei’s Huang Ting-hsuan has reached her highest WAGR position with a 16-spot move to 150th following a runaway victory in the National Senior High Championship (Under-18) in her homeland. Huang won by 30 shots after rounds of 67, 70, 68 and 68 for a 273 aggregate.

Elsewhere, Japan’s Seri Yuasa has entered the top 1,000 for the first time. She jumped 1,353 positions to 970th following a 30th place finish among the professionals in the 40th Daio Paper Elleair Ladies Open on the Japan LPGA Tour.

Among the men, Yuvraj Singh earned his second victory in a row when he won the Eastern India Amateur Championship at Royal Calcutta Golf Club.

Singh defeated Shaurya Bhattacharya in the match play final to add the title to his triumph in the previous week’s Jharkhand Amateur Championship. Both players move to new WAGR table highs. Singh soared 436 positions to 679th, while Bhattacharya is 72 spots better off in 346th.
